Hi Everyone, I married in January 2019. I quickly found my spouse was just using me for a visa to the UK, and he was actually having online relationships with other women. He obviously denies this. I ended the marriage in March 2019. Fast forward to now, he says he has done the divorce in Tunisia, but I've had no paperwork at all, I don't trust him either. Can I just do an online divorce here in the UK, so I know it's done from my side. I've spoken to a Tunisian lawyer and if he hasn't done it, it could prove tricky for me to do it there, and not to mention unsafe, for me to attend court when he will know where I am and when. Any advice on what's best to do. He has never had a visa to UK, thank God. I found out just after wedding he was a scammer! So we have never lived together. I've always been in UK, and he is in Tunisia. Thanks so much x

Good. Let us know how you got on. You will find them very helpful and knowledgeable on all things Tunisian.
One of the members may have encountered what you are going through and be able to offer you advice on what to do. I still think you should research the annulment route.
Can I just add that there is a website called Tunisian Loverats where you can become a member free. It has over 4. 5k members and the members know of the scams in Tunisia. You can also tell your story and put his picture in the Gallery. In fact, you may find your husband's picture there My story is there under Caramel, alongvwith my ex's picture.
Why don't you ask this question on my Facebook page, immigration Marriage Fraud UK - Fight to Stop It. Someone may answer. Also, there are pages on Facebook such as Free Legal Advice UK.
Yes, you an do it here but surely he would have to sign? If you succeed in doing it here, you will need to get it registered in Tunisia as you will still be married to him under Tunisian law. I think the law in Tunisia may have changed that he cannot divorce you behind your back by falsifying signatures, etc. You need to get advice from a Tunisian lawyer. If he wants to remarry he will need to divorce you. Can you look at having your marriage annulled instead. You can discuss this with a lawyer here.
